Episode 22 – Blast off to the Renaissance!

On this episode of the podcast, we begin learning about philosophy of the Renaissance. We first discuss the Black Death, a bacterial plague that wiped out 30-60% of the population of Europe. We examine how the population crisis caused by the Black Death led to an economic and political crisis that was ultimately the catalyst for a paradigm shift in philosophical thought. We also learn about the Humanist philosopher Erasmus, who, unlike the philosophers we’ve discussed on recent episodes, did not think that fusing faith and reason was a very good idea. It was much simpler than that. All this and more on the latest episode of Philosophize This!

The podcast is free. I don’t sell anything, so I try to give people as many ways as I can to support the show by having affiliate programs available. If you aren’t a web developer and need to buy a domain and build a website, there is nothing better out there than Bluehost because it is intuitive, reliable and HIGHLY flexible. What I love about them is how easy it is to go from having nothing to having a fully functioning blog or website. Even if you don’t need help building it, they are the best domain host because they don’t put arbitrary limits on things and have the best customer service.
